Pray Before You Post: Christians in the Digital Age

Question How should Christians engage with social media? Short Answer Biblical principles apply to all parts of life.   What the Bible Says Romans 12:18 says, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Yet, we don’t seem to think this applies to the online world, especially when we have a strong opinion on a matter. However, all things belong to God ( Proverbs 16:4 ), including social media, which means our online interactions should be no less guided by the Holy Spirit than our in-person ones. Scripture tells us to be slow to speak ( James 1:19-20 ), but that doesn’t mean we are to spend time dwelling on what upsets us. We are to take every thought captive ( 2 Corinthians 10:5 ), think before we speak ( Proverbs 16:23 ), and, at times, remain silent ( Psalm 4:4 ) so that our anger doesn’t lead to sin ( Ephesians 4:26 ). Why the Bible Can Be Hard to Understand

Question:  Why is the Bible so hard to understand? Short Answer:  What you understand when you’re reading your Bible has a lot to do with what you do with your mind when you’re not reading it.  What the Bible Says Why does the psalmist ask for his eyes to be turned from what is worthless ( Psalm 119: 33 – 40 )? All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person” ( Mark 7:21-23 ESV). Even if you don’t act on feelings of pride or envy, God sees that those feelings are there. As God told Samuel before anointing David over Israel, “Humans do not see what the Lord sees, for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart” ( 1 Samuel 16:17 CSB). In other words, even when don’t act on evil desires, God stil...
